Hammer 6, 1372 to Hammer 7, 1372

Date:

Hammer 6, 1372

Weather:

Cloudy. Light Winds Easterly force 1

The Party wake early in the morning to start their journey to the East on the Flying Manta Ray device. With Therrion at the controls they gradually test the capabilities of the craft until they are moving at a steady 10 mph across the High Moor. In the Early afternoon they fly above a large campsite, now vacant, but decide that the race to the Tower in the Serpent Hills is too important to delay matters by investigating.

The day wears on and is soon joined by nightfall. The Party take turns to watch while the craft speeds ahead into the night, with Carandel and Therrion watching the stars carefully and making slight adjustments to the Manta Ray's course.

Hammer 7, 1372

Weather:

Cloudy. Light Winds Easterly force 1

An hour or so after sunrise shows the careful navigation by Carandel and Therrion having paid off as the Party see the outline of a Tower in the distance with a partly ruined upper level.

As the Party approach a large hole in the upper level, two Perytons (Huge eagle like creatures with horns like the antlers of stags), who are using the area to nest in attack the Party. Therrion wheels the Manta Ray away from the tower and attempts to outrun them while the rest of the Party use their ranged weapons. The manoeuvre buys the Party enough time to kill one of the Perytons and force the other one to retreat into the safety of the ruined tower.

Therrion eases the craft back to the hole in the side of the tower's top floor and find the Peryton too well hidden to attack. Therrion then lowers the Manta Ray to the ground to allow Carandel and Elrad to enter the tower from the ground floor, as they run into the tower the very plants sprawled about the entranceway and first floor move, trying to snare their feet. Deftly avoiding the vines Carandel and Elrad sprint on though the room and up the stairs to the comparative safety of the second level. The floor of this level is covered in the bones and remains of various creatures and humanoids, probably eaten by the Perytons and discarded here.

On they rush up the stairs and into combat with the wounded Peryton, quickly dispatching it.

The party search the partially ruined upper level and the Party deduce that Gelphor must have been there only the prior evening and taken the column of blue light to the new tower. The party search the remains on the second level of the tower and discover a few discarded items amongst the debris of humanoid and animal remains. The most intriguing of which are two magic rings whose surfaces appear to "fit" together. After some experimentation Carandel discovers that by wearing the rings and bringing his hands together so that the rings fit together, when the hands are drawn apart an extra-planar space appears that contains a long sword.

With time against them the Party board the Manta Ray and move off to find the new tower.
